In other news, I went to Prospect Park today out of curiosity and an urge to find some nature. It was beautiful. I could see the whole city from there, and hear the birds singing and feel the wind on my face. I breathed in the brisk, fresh air and I felt... relieved. I can't believe that I've been here for one and a half years and did not discover that place until now. There were squirrels there: two pairs, and they chattered and chased each other and leapt from tree to tree, as if they hadn't a care in the world. Even the walk to and from the park was wonderful--all the colorful houses with private, quiet doors and a restful home-ness emanating from the odds and ends placed in the windows. It made me feel like I really belong here in this city, that I live in Providence with all its joys and quiet domesticity, and not just Brown. It refreshed me and gave me the strength to go on.
